Sometimes that means fighting hard and aggressively protecting your rights, although it often requires a more strategic approach, in order to resolve a dispute quickly and cost-effectively.
Recent examples of our work include:
- Advising a Dutch shipyard in respect of a Design Rights dispute over a €25M+ construction project, which was complicated by the fact that the shipyard had purchased the design at the request of the owner.
- A dispute over a substantial deposit following the withdrawal by a purchaser from a brokerage transaction. We successfully extricated our client from the dispute tactically, using our considerable experience, and avoiding formal arbitration proceedings.
- Advising the owner in a claim against a Northern European shipyard, where a 60+ metre newbuild was delivered with sub-standard paint application.
- Advising the owner in a charter dispute valued at €15M, concerning one of the world’s largest yachts.
We also advise on ‘wet’ casualties, including collisions and partial or total losses, as well as ship arrests.
